Without the Columbia River Scheme, its irrigation canals and its abundant electricity, this whole area would have great difficulty in continuing as a real community.
The natural climate is hot in summer, cold in winter and dry all the time. The rainfall on average is around 5 - 10 inches per year. Arid in other words.
